Wall Street is a principle financial center of New York where the famous New York Stock Exchange is headquartered. That is particularly why the whole U.S. stock market is sometimes referred to as Wall Street.

The NYSE, the major stock market in the U.S. where the world-famous Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is traded.

The AMEX, one of the U.S. largest regional stock exchanges. In 2012 it was renamed NYSE MKT LLC.

  • Its analogue in Russia is the RTS Index

The S&P 500 Index is widely regarded as the best single gauge of large cap U.S. equities.

  • The index comprises 501  stocks issued by 500 large-cap companies
  • The stocks in the S&P 500 Index are traded on the NYSE and NASDAQ
  • Its analogue in Russia is the MICEX Index

The Nasdaq index is the indicator of performance of stocks of the U.S. technology companies

  • The index price is based on quotations of banks and brokerage firms specializing in trading securities on the U.S. OTC market.
  • The index is calculated as a capitalization-weighted index of companies operating in high-technology fields
  • The index has influence on Russia’s MICEX Index and RTS Index.
